Why I Moved from Ukraine to be a doctor in Dubai: A Surgeon’s Journey

When people hear thatI left Ukraine 4 years ago, the first question they ask is, “Why Dubai?” so today I decide to explain a bit more in a few words, and here it is what I think you should know. It’s not just about the sun or the skyline (though both are breathtaking). For me, this move was about personal and professional growth, it was time to embrace the opportunity, and also the chance to redefine the meaning of care in my profession.

My Roots in Ukraine

Growing up in Odessa isn’t like growing up in Dubai, over there I was surrounded by resilience, but don’t take me wrong, it has always a positive side in everything in life, depends how you see things, and my way was to use the environment to teach me when and how to overcome barriers and like that transform them into solutions. The people, the culture, and the spirit taught me how to adapt, persevere, and aim higher. As a female general surgeon, I found purpose in transforming lives. Yet, I realized that staying in one place—both geographically and professionally—was holding me back from offering the best to my patients.

The healthcare industry in Ukraine is filled with brilliant minds and potential, but the resources and opportunities to innovate are often limited. I desire to expand my horizons, to work in a place that valued medical advancements as much as it celebrated human connection.

Why Dubai?

Dubai isn’t just a city—it’s a vision. For someone like me, who thrives on healthcare industry precision and perfection are a must, it just felt like the perfect match. The UAE’s commitment to healthcare excellence, its focus on innovation, and its multicultural environment created the ideal platform for me to grow and be able to share my best specializations and treatments for my patients.

I was drawn to Dubai’s high standards in the medical field, which align with my personal commitment to delivering world-class care. Beyond that, the city embraces ambition and empowers women to lead in fields traditionally dominated by men.

A New Chapter of Care

As a surgeon in Dubai, I don’t just operate; I connect. My move to Dubai as a doctor allowed me to cater to a dynamic, high-achieving audience—women who value their health as an integral part of their success. I specialize in treatments in Dubai that blend precision with artistry, ensuring each procedure enhances not only physical well-being but also confidence and grace.

Dubai’s diverse population also challenges all the doctors including myself to be more innovative, working with patients from different cultural backgrounds and tailoring my expertise to their unique needs.

While medicine remains my passion, my move to Dubai has inspired me to explore holistic approaches to health. From daily routines to complex surgery, I aim to empower women with knowledge that complements surgical care. My goal as a female doctor in Dubai is to build a community where women feel supported, informed, and confident in every step of their health journey.
